Meet Our Doctor

Robert D. Haydel, Jr., M.D.

Since 1993, Dr. Haydel has been serving the Tri-Parish area. Like his father and grandfather before him, Dr. Haydel strives to provide the best care possible. He follows the physician creed to cure sometimes, heal often, and comfort always.

Dr. Haydel graduated from LSU School of Medicine of New Orleans in 1988. His internship was at Earl K. Long Hospital in Baton Rouge. His residency was completed at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville, North Carolina, until May 1991. Dr. Haydel then entered a combined fellowship in Asthma, Allergy and Immunology sponsored by Tulane Medical Center and Oschner. He completed his fellowship in June 1993 and opened Haydel Asthma & Allergy Clinic in 1993.

Dr. Haydel is a Fellow of the American Academy of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology and a member of the American College of Asthma, Allergy and Immunology, and the Louisiana State Allergy Society.

Dr. Haydel received the Dean's Award from the LSU School of Medicine for leadership and dedication. He received the teaching award from his interns while at East Carolina School of Medicine. He has co-published several research articles in the major medical journals in his field, including but not limited to Fish Allergy and Gastresophageal Reflux Associated Asthma in Children. He received the Louisiana Patient's Choice Award in 2008. He has been selected as one of the best doctors in his field as voted in 2009, 2010 and 2011.

Dr. Haydel's mission is to give state-of-the-art medical management in his field and to facilitate timely and expert referral when necessary. Dr. Haydel is still driven by what the Dean of his medical school told his class the very first day: "The better person you are, the better doctor you will be."
